Abstract
Sixty chemical compounds were experimentally screened for toxicity to mice as a routine procedure for estimating the tolerated doses for the Sarcoma 180 assay. The compounds were administered intraperitoneally. Records were kept of physiological responses and weight changes. Results indicated the dose, mortality and day of death, or the maximum tolerated dose. Compounds which were highly toxic included 4-(2-furyl)-2-butanone (699172) and alpha-methyl-2-furanpropanol.
