Abstract
This paper describes the empirical evaluation of several different screens as cell material for a commercial screen-type diffusion battery. Monodisperse particles, 0.01−0.22 μm in diameter, were used to measure particle collection efficiencies for the screen-type diffusion battery. Four types of stainless-steel wire screens were used as the diffusion cell material. Collection efficiency (or penetration) data were compared with the screen-type diffusion battery theory previously developed. Good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental data for all types of screens, was obtained. Implications for use of various types of screens are also discussed.
