Abstract
The kinetics of the liquid-phase synthesis of tert-amyl ethyl ether by direct etherification with ethanol of the reactive amylenes contained in the FCC light gasoline (C5 fraction) was theoretically and experimentally investigated. The catalyst used was a commercial Amberlyst-35 acid ion-exchange resin having the original grain size distribution. Experimental data were obtained in a laboratory scale continuous fixed bed reactor and a simple kinetic model was proposed based on hypothesis accepted in other published studies.
