Abstract
A new barium-beryllium fluoride-phosphate mineral was found in 1962 in a Siberian rare metal-fluorite deposit related to leucocratic subalkalic syenite of Mesozoic age. X-ray and chemical analytical data on the type specimen of the mineral indicate its formula is Be (sub 5) Ba (sub 4) P (sub 4) O (sub 17) F (sub 4) .0.35H (sub 2) O. The name babefphite was selected for the mineral.
