Abstract
Elemental mercury embolism to the lung - a case report A case of deliberate parenteral self-injection of elemental mercury in a drug-addict 18 years old man is presented. Chest x-ray films showed mercury deposits in the lungs, as well as around the injection site. At follow-up at 2 years, he was well, with none of the renal, gastrointestinal, or neurologic effects that can result from the oxidation of mercury. The clinical and radiological course of the patient is described.
