EVALUATION OF PAINT DURABILITY - NATURAL AND ACCELERATED
Blakey, RR
1986
The reasons why durability of paints is necessary and why it is variable are outlined. Causes and mechanisms of paint degradation are discussed. The variation in data that exists between different natural weathering sites throughout the world is described. Accelerated weathering tests are considered. Recent work on the comparison of test methods at Tioxide is reported. These methods include use of fluorescent UV-condensation apparatus, carbon arc machines, natural weathering, and the evaluation of the photoactivity of titanium dioxide as a durability test. 32 refs.
