Analytical Methods for Pesticides and Plant Growth Regulators
PESTAB. Technical formulations of the acaricide promacyl and Promicide (AI promacyl) emulsifiable concentrate are analyzed for purity by gas chromatography. Use is made of the ratio of peak area of 3-isopropyl-5-methylphenyl N-butyl-N-methylcarbamate to that of an internal standard. Technical promacyl and Promicide emulsifiable concentrate are also analyzed for residual unreacted 3-isopropyl-5-methylphenyl N-methylcarbamate by HPLC on a silica column with n-hexane-isopropanol as eluent. A method which allows for the determination of promacyl and 2 metabolites in the tissues and milk of cattle is mentioned. Tungstophosphoric acid, salting out, and pH adjustment are used to release promacyl and promecarb for extraction from cattle dip samples. Extracts are analyzed for promacyl by gas chromatography and for promecarb by HPLC.
