HAPAB Carbamate resistance was tested in carbaryl-resistant strains of the German cockroach, Blattella germanica ( l. ). Baygon ( o- isopropoxyphenyl methylcarbamate ) and VC-10854 ( m-isopropylphenyl methylcarbamate ) effectively killed both strains with topical application. Dimetilan and Isolan ( 1-isopropyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazoly dimethylcarbamate - showed less toxicity with little resistance in the carbaryl-resistant cockroaches. VC-21149 ( 2-methyl-2- ( methylthio ) prppionaldehyde O- ( methylcarbamoyl ) oxime ) and Matacil ( 4- ( dimethylamino )-m-tolyl methylcarbamate ) killed cockroaches effectively but little cross resistance appeared in the resistant strain. This work could serve as a basis for comparison with similar work on insects. TOXICOLOGY AND PHARMACOLOGY 68/09/00, 10 1968
