Abstract
The article reports on the investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on how stroke patients at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California were exposed to ionising radiation while having brain scans. It states that more than 200 patients who underwent computed tomography (CT) brain perfusion received about eight times the anticipated dose of radiation. An internal investigation showed that between February 2008 and August 2009, stroke patients were being irradiated with 3-4 dose of gray to the head of the patients.
