(Se4)2(Sb4F17)(SbF6)3 is formed by reaction of selenium with a large excess of SbF5 in SO2 at 363 K. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n (Nr. 14) with a = 1124.1(2), b = 1342.7(2), c = 1151.2(3) pm; beta = 93.10(2)-degrees and Z = 2. Two crystallographically independent Se4(2+) units exhibit slight differences of bond distances and angles as well as different numbers of cation-anion interactions. Three regular SbF6- octahedra and the mixed valent Sb4F17- anion, observed previously in only one case, are present.
