Abstract
The variable grid Urban Airshed Model (UAM-V) photochemical modelling system was used to simulate a base case and future scenarios to determine ozone concentrations in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada Precursor pollutants are strongly linked to the mobile sector in the region, which is expanding rapidly due to population increase. Simulations were performed to ascertain the effects of low and high levels of growth in population and motor vehicle transportation, in terms of vehicle kilometres travelled, for the year 2000. Although emissions were increased, results show little expected change in future ozone concentrations due to the complex nature of VOC/NOx ratios and meteorological flows in the valley.
