Abstract
Uniform Fe(0.985)S crystals with novel structures can be fabricated by tuning the volume ratio of water and ethanol (or glycerol). After calcination at 500 degrees C, the porous alpha-Fe(2)O(3) a architectures can be produced from as-prepared Fe(0.985)S samples as an efficient precursor. Furthermore, the porous alpha-Fe(2)O(3) architectures could maintain the main morphologies of the Fe(0.985)S precursors. Compared with the alpha-Fe(2)O(3) powder, the porous alpha-Fe(2)O(3) cc architectures show high photocatalytic performance for methyl orange. (C) 2011 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
