Abstract
For any foreign compound (xenobiotic) to produce its deleterious effect(s) on the organism, it must be absorbed, pass into the vascular or lymphatic systems, and be distrubted to thetarget organ(s) tissues. The main routes of absorption are ingestion, inhalation, and dermal, but absorption may occur via the rectal mucosa, sublingually, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, intravenously, or interarterially.
