We have carried out X-ray structure analysis (a DARCH diffractometer, MoK(alpha) radiation, 1430 independent reflections with \F\ greater-than-or-equal-to 4\sigma(F)\, 2theta less-than-or-equal-to 56-degrees, R = 0.0295) of a novel copper(I) nitrate pi-complex with diallyl cyanamide (space group P2(1)/b, a = 6.603(2), b = 8.318(2), c = 18.342(4) angstrom, gamma = 92.28(3)-degrees, Z = 4 for CuNO3.C7H10N2). Due to the bridging function of one oxygen atom of the NO3 group, centrosymmetric dimeric units Cu2(NO3)2 (Cu-O(3) 2.029(3) and Cu-O(3)' 2.524(2) angstrom) are formed in the structure. These units are combined via the bridging bidentate (the C = C bond, the N atom of cyano group) diallyl cyanamide molecules into infinite [Cu2(NO3)2.2(CH2 = CH-CH2)2NCN]n ribbons oriented along [100].
