Abstract
The paper includes two parts:
- first part includes the tendencies regarding world level production of the ceramic permanent magnetic materials and magnets;
- in the second part our team experimental results regarding permanent ceramic magnets based on barium ferrite are presented. In the ternary system BaO - FeO - Fe2O3 the W compound (BaFe18O27) has superior magnetic performances comparing with conventional ones: barium and strontium hexaferrite (BaFe12O19, SrFe12O19). There are presented the elaboration routes, by pirometallurgical processes, of the W compound starting with stoechiometric powder mixture BaO x 9Fe(2)O(3), the physical and chemical processes which take place at the heating of the compound and the influence of some factors such as activator materials and O-2 pressure concerning the decreasing of the synthesis temperature and the cooling stability of the Fe2+ ions.
