Abstract
IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The methodology of techniques employed in the tactile measurement of the frictional properties of the skin, and its application to the evaluation of the cosmetic attributes of the skin (smoothness, greasiness, and moisturization) and the effects of skin moisturizing products are reviewed. Reported values of the coefficient of friction in skin in vivo and the effect of hydration on the skin are presented. Equations employed in the determination of skin friction are given.
