Abstract
HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. The P availability in diets containing algae meal with a high concentration of Al was determined by evaluation of the response of tibia ash and P (in White Rock male chicks). Graded levels of dicalcium phosphate were added to 6 diets with 10% algae meal containing 5% Al and to corresponding control diets. The diets were fed daily for 10 days, each lot pair-fed to the lot consuming the least feed. Supplementary P (0.76% g) was required to ameliorate the decline in bone calcification and prevent the hypophosphatemic effects of 1 g Al in the diet.
