HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA) is a potent carcinogen which induces skin tumors and mammary tumors. Biochemical studies have shown that DMBA is a procarcinogen that requires metabolic activation by mixed-function oxidase systems. DMBA induces dominant lethal mutation testing in the germ cells of male mice.
