Abstract
The uptake of glycine-2-C14 into proteins of 20-methylcholanthrene and 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracenc-induced rat mammary tumors may be inhibited by 2 methyl-17p,-hydroxy-5a-androstan-3-one. The corresponding 17a-methyl derivative also inhibited glycine uptake by the proteins of 20-methylcholanthrene-induced tumors. These carcinogen-induced mammary tumor systems may, under the conditions described here, serve as possible assay methods for evaluating the anti-mammary tumor activity of steroids. © 1965 S.
