IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP A case is described in which a 52-yr-old man experienced a hypertensive crisis after abrupt discontinuation of 30 mg/day lisinopril. Treatment with 10 mg intravenous (IV) metoprolol, 70 mcg/min nitroglycerin, and 9 mg morphine did not improve his blood pressure. An IV dose of 0.625 mg enalaprilat was then given with good effect. The patient's blood pressure decreased to 180/94 mm Hg. With control of his blood pressure the patient was given aspirin, streptokinase, and IV heparin. Blood pressure was controlled with 20 mg/day lisinopril and 200 mg/day metoprolol.
