Abstract
HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. In acute, subacute and chronic experiments of the toxic and mutagenic effects of the common industrial organotin compounds bis(tributyltin) oxide, monobutyltin trilaurate and dibutyltin bis(trifluoroacetate) on mice and rabbits, all 3 compounds demonstrated strong toxic properties, cumulative effect and mutagenic activity. Monobutyltin trilaurate was least biologically active, possibly due to its chemical structure. Morphological, immunological and hematological deviations are noted, including inhibition of enzyme activity, changes of blood composition and chromosome aberration in bone marrow cells.
