Abstract
6-Fluoro-7-chloro-2-aminobenzothiazole 1 was condensed with salicylaldehyde in presence of conc sulphuric acid to get 2-(6-fluoro-7-chloro-2-iminobenzothiazolyl) methylphenol 2 which on subsequent reduction produced 2-(6-fluoro-7-chloro-2-aminobenzothiazolyl),methylphenol 3. The resultant product underwent cyclization in presence of formaldehyde to yield 2H-3-(6'-fluoro-7'-chloro-2'-benzothiazolyl)-3,4-dihydro-1,3-benzoxazine 4. The compound 4 on nucleophillic substitution with alcohols/phenols/ amines resulted in the formation 2H-3-(6'-fluoro-7'-substituted-2'-benzothiazolyl)-3,4-dihydro-1,3-benzoxazines 5a-r. All the newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopic data and have been screened for anti inflammatory, analgesic, CNS depressant, and skeletal muscle relaxant properties.
