A novel procedure has been proposed for the determination of speciation of inorganic and organic monomeric aluminum in natural waters by cation-exchange/chloroform extraction-8-hydroxylquinine fluorimetry (8-0x-CF-EF). Compared with Driscoll's method (MIBK extraction-8-0x-GF/AAS method), the proposed method possesses some unique advantages: inorganic monomeric aluminum Al-i can be determined directly as well as for organic monomeric Al-o. 50 natural water samples have been analyzed by this method with identical results for both species.
