The Albanian oil industry operates in a vast territory which covers mainly regions of: Fieri, Ballshi, Vlora and Kucova. The oil industry works in open systems by emitting the accompanying oil gases, such as: H2S, CO2. hydrocarbon vapours, directly to atmosphere. The same situation appears in the case of oil refining process in Oil deep refining plant, Ballshi, and Oil refining plant, Fieri, that discharge the gases in atmosphere. The incomplete burning of accompanying oil gases and technological gas discharges from the refining processes are other important contributors to the deterioration of the environmental status. Here we can mention some of the main factors of pollution like oil wells, oil decantation plants, oil transporting pipeline, and oil refining plants. The air pollution is not only a real concern to employee of the oil industry, but it is also a real concern for the community members by affecting their health status. The findings are compared to with national norms. In some monitoring stations, the values were well above the national norms. The monitoring stations are chosen close to the oilfields, as well as in the surrounding inhabited areas. The environmental situation is evaluated in different seasons of the year.
