Abstract
IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP Technological and biopharmaceutical properties of direct compression aspirin and ascorbic acid tablets were evaluated, using gamma-sorbitol as the diluent. Compression properties, hardness, disintegration and dissolution and stability were studied. Sorbitol showed a better ratio of compression force to hardness and longer disintegration and dissolution times than tablets using lactose as diluent. Disintegrant choice was also evaluated, and Ac-Di-Sol (croscarmellose sodium) was found most suitable, especially upon storage at high humidity.
