IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The successful treatment of keratoacanthomas with topical alpha-interferon applied 4 times daily under occlusive dressing in 5 kidney transplant recipients, ages 36-58 yr, is reported. The drug was well tolerated. In the 4 cases localized on the dorsum of the hands, the detachment of the keratotic plug was observed after 20-30 days of topical therapy together with a flattening of the lesion and a slight reduction in its diameter. After another month, healing had taken place with a depressed scar. In the fifth case in which the keratoacanthoma was very small, involution occurred 2 wk later.
