IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The antihypertensive effect of muzolimine (BAY-g-2821; I) was studied in 10 hypertensive inpatients ranging in age from 36 to 57 yr. The patients were orally treated with doses of 20, 30 and 40 mg, each given once a day for 3 days. Systolic and diastolic blood pressures were estimated, each day of treatment, 7 times in the 12 hr period. Blood pressure-time curves indicated that I induced a significant decrease of the diastolic and systolic blood pressure values. The peak blood pressure decrease was achieved with 30 mg daily. The 40 mg dose did not lower blood pressure significantly more than did the 20 mg dose. No significant changes were found in heart rate and hematochemical parameters. No side effects were observed.
