Abstract
HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. To study the occurrence and distribution of irritants and cocarcinogens in plants, 1 kg of roots were Soxhleted with diverse solvents of increasing polarity and the irritation unit (IU) and median irritation doses (ID-50) were determined on the mouse. The dried roots do not contain irritant principles such as 12, 13-di- or 13-monesters of phorbol and related diterpenes derivatives, or cryptic irritants such as 12, 13, 20-triesters of phorbol and related diterpenes.
