IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The pharmacokinetics of an oral solution and an oral tablet of 600 mg pramiracetam were studied in 11 healthy subjects (ages 18-74 yr). The mean half-life was 4.3 and 4.7 h, area under the concentration time curve was 57.6 and 47.2 mcg h/ml, and time to reach maximum concentration was 6.8 and 5.8 mcg/ml for the solution and tablet, respectively. The half-life was very variable between subjects, but less variable within subjects, and was unaffected by formulation. It was concluded that the pharmacokinetics of pramiracetam are not highly affected by the formulation except for the absorption rate, which is faster for the solution than for the tablet.
