IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP Nineteen boys with gynecomastia seen in an endocrine outpatient clinic over a 30 month period were treated with clomiphene citrate (Clomid; I) in an uncontrolled trial. Treatment was initiated with I 50 mg daily and reduced to 50 mg on alternate days for maintenance when a measurable response occurred. Eighteen of the 19 (95%) patients' breast size decreased with treatment. However, it is difficult to determine the effectiveness of a drug in a disease characterized by eventual spontaneous resolution.
