Abstract
IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP A 69-yr-old man with rheumatoid arthritis and a history of peptic ulcer was treated with anti-inflammatory agents (2 mg triamcinolone and 175 mg sodium diclofenac/day) and oral ranitidine (I) 150 mg/day, until he developed a tender palpable gynecomastia after 8 days. When I was stopped, the gynecomastia disappeared after 15 days, but it reappeared within 3 wk after a rechallenge with 150 mg of I twice daily. During both periods, no increase in prolactin, testosterone, and estradiol levels was recorded. The results suggest that I was the cause for the gynecomastia.
