Abstract
IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The therapy of endocarditis due to Lyme disease is described in 4 male patients, aged 33-65 yr, who were treated with various dosages and schedules of tetracycline, penicillin, or ceftriaxone. Two patients had permanent pacemakers implanted and another almost did, before diagnosis. All 4 patients had a return to normal sinus rhythm, although one had Wenckebach second degree block with atrial pacing at 120 beats/min 16 months after therapy. A review of the incidence, symptoms, pathophysiology and treatment of Lyme endocarditis was included.
