Abstract
HMTC Toxicity tests using 6 different bacterial cultures and 12 chemicals are being used to establish criteria for identifying toxic substances and determining toxicity levels. The tests reveal that the bacterial cultures do not have the same response to different concentrations of the same chemical. This indicates that the acute and subtle effects of a chemical should be used to determine a chemical's toxicity to the environment. (23 ref.)
