Abstract
Cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles have been synthesized from (NH4)(2)Ce(NO3)(6), ethylenediamine and hydrazine by a hydrothermal method. Ethylenediamine and hydrazine with pH management can control the particle growth and have an important role in the formation of nanoparticles. Various experimental parameters were examined, such as the reaction temperature, the reaction time, and the molar ratios of the starting reagents. The as-synthesized products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX).
