Abstract
The enzymatic dehalogenation of CH2BrCl, CH2Br2, CH2Cl2, CH2Br.CH2Br, CH2Cl.CH2Cl, ChCl3, C2H5Br, and CH2Cl.CH2Br has been demonstrated in liver extracts. The products of reaction with CH2BrCl, CH2Br2, and CH2Cl2 were formaldehyde, halide ion, and hydrogen ion. The enzyme system required activation by cyanide and either glutathione or cysteine. A 5-fold purification was achieved by fractionation of liver extracts with ammonium sulfate.
