Abstract
Fluorene-based fluorescent chemosensor 1 has been reported here for the selective sensing of Hg2+. Chemosensor 1 effectively binds Hg2+ (20 mu M level) in aqueous acetonitrile medium (10 : 1 v/v) using HEPES buffer (pH 7.0) among the other metal ions (Li+, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Ba2+, Pb2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Cu2+ and Mn2+) considered for the study.
