Abstract
BIOSIS COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. The authors examined 129 employees in the Novaky Chemical Works exposed to vinyl chloride (VC) within the framework of the Research Task "Monitoring of the Effects of Chemical Carcinogens in Working Environment and the Health of Workers". The mean age was 36.6 years (19-58 years), the mean exposure lasted 13.4 years (2-37 years). The data on the production technology, VC, PVC and mean concentrations of VC in the air for the period of 1990-1993 were obtained from the UHE in Prievidza. The authors took case history data in view of the work history and the incidence of oncological diseases in the family history, objective examination, laboratory examination with emphasis to hepatopathies. The authors evaluated the incidence of diseases with possible connection to work exposure and frequency of non-occupational diseases.
