Abstract
Study on efficacy of essential oils from Phlai (Zingiber montanum), Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and Wan nang kharn (C. aromatica) against adult brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) was done. The oils were diluted with propylene glycol at 1% 2.5% 5%and 10% (V/V) and tested for their acaricidal activities on the ticks. A total of 1,300 mature adult ticks were divided into 13 groups, each group divided to 5 replications with equal number of male and female ticks. It was found that 10% (V/V) solution of Phlai oil had the highest efficacy against ticks, whereas, 5% Phlai oil solution were second in ranking. In the same concentration, the mortality rate of the ticks from phlai oil solution was the highest and significantly different from the others (p < 0.05).
