Abstract
The present study was based on the current situation that traditional waste battery recycling technology was complex, high-cost and not appropriate with the actual situation. Besides that, the process of preparing manganese tetroxide (Mn3O4) was high-cost, with high energy consumption, and no effective measures to avoid emission of toxic gas SO2 when low cost considered. After combined with same points of two different processes, a new and complete set of processes has been developed, which could solve the above shortcomings and utilise waste battery for flue gas desulphurisation, and produce manganese sulphate (MnSO4) byproduct and then Mn3O4. On the whole, this process realised the recycling of manganese resources and waste battery and zero emission of SO2, solving the key bottleneck of waste battery recycling. The process of preparing of Mn3O4 was consistent with the principle of '3R' (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) with the characteristics of simple process and good economic returns.
