A novel fluoroperylene diimide, N,N'-diperfluorophenyl-3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic diimide(DFPP) was designed and originally synthesized. This compound was soluble in common solvents, such as acetone, CHCl3, THF, and toluene, so that the composite film of DFPP and poly N-vinyl carbazole (PVK) could be easily prepared through solution coating. In this way, a single-layered photoreceptor consisting of DFPP-PVK composite was obtained, which exhibited excellent photoconductivities while charged negatively as well a positively. Through the analyses of the composite by ESR, CV and XPS, it was believed that the good solubility and high electron affinity of DFPP were responsible for the good photoconductivity of the composite.
