Abstract
The influence of pH upon the absorption spectra of N-phenyl-acetyl-mandelohydroxamic acid (N-PAMHA) in water and dioxane-water mixtures at different ionic strengths has been studied. The pK(a) of N-PAMHA in aqueous medium is 8,35 and the pK(a) values increase when the dielectric constant or the ionic strength of the medium decreases.
