Abstract
New data on the improvement of the electrochemical properties of high-voltage LiNi1/2Mn3/2O4 electrodes by controlling particle size distribution are provided. Acid treatment is used as an effective experimental tool to modify the particle size distribution without changing the Ni,Mn distribution on the octahedral spinet sites. The mechanism of the acid action depends on whether nano- or submictometric spinet particles are treated. We found that acid treatment of LiNi1/2Mn3/2O4 with submicronmetric particles has a strong impact on its capacity and cycling stability.
