Fluoride assisted stabilization of manganese(III) has been demonstrated by synthesizing new mixed-ligand fluoromanganate(III) complexes from aqueous medium. Mixed-ligand fluoromanganate(III) complexes have been synthesized from a reaction of MnO(OH), 40% HF with corresponding co-ligands in aqueous medium in presence of alkali metal carbonate. Newly synthesized complexes are stable in absence of moisture and are insoluble in organic solvents. Complexes were characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, chemical determination of oxidation state, FTIR, electronic spectra, room temperature magnetic moment measurements, TGA/DTA, SEM, EDX and cyclic voltammetry studies. The synthesized complexes are likely to have distorted octahedral structure.
