Abstract
Thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) with and without Pd metal supported on CaCO3 in a nitrogen atmosphere was studied. The results showed that the decomposition processes of AP differed from those previously observed. The presence of the catalyst drastically decreased the contribution of the explosive step and the activation energy associated with this step. The adsorption capacity of the catalyst is suggested as being responsible for this behaviour. © 1994.
