Benzotrichloride, benzoyl chloride and 4- chlorobenzotrichloride were evaluated for chronic toxicity/carcinogenicity. Four Japanese reports and their English translations are presented. Female mice (8 to 12/group) were exposed to 1.6 ppm benzotrichloride 2x/week for 30 minutes over a 12 month period at room temperature or at 50 degrees Celsius, followed by an observation period of 12 or 15 months. Significant mortality resulted. Room temperature exposure caused pulmonary tumors (adenoma and adenocarcinoma).
