Abstract
HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. Products formed from the combustion of organic compounds depends on temperature, residence time in combustion chamber and nature of the organics. Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and dibenzofurans (PCDF) are found in flue gas and fly ash of municipal incinerators and other combustion sources. Rat liver cytosol receptor protein assay was used to determine toxicity of these compounds. EC50 (median effective concentration) for fly ash samples was 72 pg.
