IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The stability and compatibility of 10 and 40 mcg/ml of granisetron hydrochloride (Kytril) and 80 and 600 mcg/ml of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (dexamethasone 21-disodium phosphate) mixed together in 5% dextrose and in 0.9% sodium chloride injection in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) were studied. Means of at least 90% of the initial concentrations of dexamethasone phosphate and granisetron remained after the samples had been stored for up to 14 days at 23 or 4DGC in either 5% dextrose or 0.9% sodium chloride injections. Visual inspection at the time of assay showed no color change, change in clarity, or precipitation. It was concluded that granisetron hydrochloride in the presence of dexamethasone sodium phosphate was stable for up to 14 days at 23-25DGC or 4DGC.
