IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP Granulation of lactose and calcium phosphate dibasic (calcium hydrogen phosphate) was studied in a high speed mixer during the liquid addition phase. Using factorially designed experiments, the effects of impeller speed, chopper speed, liquid flow rate, and method of liquid addition, on liquid distribution and granule growth, were examined. It was shown that the granule growth was controlled primarily by the amount of binder solution added and the impeller speed. Atomization and particle size effects were also studied.
