Abstract
The reactions of 3-N-methyl/ethyl/(alpha-methyl)ethylmorpholino/piperidino-4-amino-5-mercapto-4(H)-1,2,4-triazoles (1a-f) with various aliphatic/aromatic acids (2a-f-10a-f), cyanogen bromide (11a-f), carbon disulphide (12a-f), alpha-haloketones (13a-f-14a-f), benzoin (15a-f), dimedone (16a-f), chloroacetic acid (17a-f), hydrazine hydrate (18a-f) and methyl iodide (19a-f) are described. The characterisation of products has been done on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, NMR and mass spectral data. All the newly synthesised compounds have been screened for antimicrobial activity against bacteria S. aureus, E. coli and fungi C. albicans, A. averanthus. Results of antimicrobial screening have shown that compounds having 3-N-methyl/ethyl/(alpha-methyl)ethylpiperidino moiety at position-3 of 1,2,4-triazole nucleus exhibit significant antifugal activity against both the fungal strains.
