Abstract
The interfacial atomic mixing in a perovskite type manganese oxide superlattice is studied. A superlattice made of antiferromagnetic insulator Pr0.5Ca0.5MnO3 (PCMO) and ferromagnetic metal La0.5Sr0.5MnO3 (LSMO) on a (011) surface of perovskite structured substrate is reported to have ferromagnetic PCMO layers, which implies the heterojunction affects the electronic and magnetic structure. We performed a surface x-ray diffraction measurement in order to clarify the origin of the interface effect on the electron system. Our structural observation reveals that the chemical interface between PCMO and LSMO layers has one monolayer of atomic mixing, which accounts for a part of the interfacial effects.
